Spring Snow

Blankets of white – below – above
Shattered angel wings – falling – drifting
Light upon wisps of air – catching – dancing
Filaments captured – luminescence – bright
Fractals of flash – float – fractured
Cutting scalloped courses – coarse – frozen
Teardrops travel horizontal – hard – hurting
Eyes pried shut – jewels – jagged
Soft upon the nose – wet – kisses
Slide silently slow – tracks – curving
Grabs sticky wax – slushy – licks
Holding my strength – still – kicks
Push, pole, pull – strides – slipping
On icy water – momentum – missing
Down hills dampened – uphills –caught
Trapped in cold – embrace – chilled
Tempo quickened – pulse –heats
Sweat steams gasping – nostrils – flare
Flagging, fighting, forcing – an end – nears
Scoring, cutting, skis – propel – up
Used, spent, chopped – spring – snow.
