The sheets of Afterwinter —
shatter with splashes
thin frosted fingers
grasping at the cold
extending
in an instant
melting
under the reminder
of a summer’s kiss
a distant memory
a darkened warmth
against winter’s shadow
that fades
pressed by the equinox
then grows long
flung long
through fluttering eyelashes
glued with ice
of a polar wink
it is a mirror
reflecting
a season endured
a window
a tantalizing glimpse
into desire.

Thank you Carole. Encouragement is a good thing and definitely helps. I wish I could sustain it all year round. 😊
