In your love, my heart beats crystal
Your lips spark embers in the night
Your whisper the bellows of the forge
Breathing life into my molten glass
And make glow my soul with fire and light.
Pull me, turn me, inflate my heart
Present me within a sunbeam bright
Cast my prisms on the world
Play your fingers upon my rim
Coax my harmony from out my skin
Fill my bowl with truth’s delight and
With stars plucked hot from the dawn
Turn yesterday into fragile white:
Say my name and make me whole
I’m crystal within a love newly blown.

“And make glow my soul with fire and light…”
Beautiful, Dale. Wonderful imagery with both words and picture!

Awww, thank you. I’m glad you loved the imagery and that line. That means a lot. I loved writing it all.

Absolutely; I was very drawn to nature’s colour palette which you caught (those soft blues and purples in particular) but the photo is an accompaniment to the main event – powerful words about the way true love and passion melt and shape us and allow our vulnerability to become beauty, hope and change. Thank you for sharing your potent words, and your fortuitous crystal sunset. 🙂

….Like a cradle of ice melted by glowing fire….
What gorgeous, pure colours. You arrested so many textures and evocative components inside what initially appears a ‘simple’ photograph; and in the perfect moment, grasped both peace and passion.

Thanks Jessica. I was ‘only’ seeking a nice picture of a crystal glass to complement the metaphor in the poem, but something fortuitous happened last night when the sunset filled the glass and created a perfect tapestry the mirrored so much of the imagery in the poem. Sometimes it’s just better to be lucky than good …. 🙂
