an autumn twilight | rains: forest stars
drip leafs upon: broken | hearted
pillars of wood: a shipwreck | spears
present: in a past — a future parted
out of reach | I mourn | the walk
a passage of time | locked away: in a closet
sand in my shoe | pebbles | rock
shadowed: footsteps — autumn leaves
crisp colours crush — crack | crunch
ours in hours: a path is worn
dark is the tower | walls | I punch
weighted I watch: ashes — ascending
wrapped loose: upon the breeze — winds
your spirit | gathering | spreading
lifting the fog: opening — my mind
fetching to me | faithfully | shedding
boundaries | keeping me | away
into a starburst: sun — breaks through
kindles | your name written on | day
a nocturne dusk: in which you — disappear
remember | an ember: remember to stay
near | here | please | pause … pause | a tear.

Poem drafted and submitted as part of my participation of “National Poetry Writing Month – 2017” (#NaPoWriMo2017). Today’s poetry prompt: write a nocturne. In music, a nocturne is a composition meant to be played at night, usually for piano, and with a tender and melancholy sort of sound. Your nocturne should aim to translate this sensibility into poetic form.
