Desérables
I covet thee
desire the tree
tap it
and drain it
catch it
gather it
amount it
and boil it
into the blood
of my blood.
It is the spring
its temperatures bring
release as
your veins swell
your sugar melts
into buckets
of sticky
sexy
sap.
Paper crêpes
a superhero cape
candied bacon
pecans that break
a spinach salad
in vinaigrette of sweet
a coffee rounded out
blueberry crack
boiled in blood
au sweet jus
spooned on
foie gras
sausage
inhabitant
pimped baked beans
caked and buttered
your cream
makes me creamy
like a poured dollop on
melting corn bread.
I want to eat
repeat
this poem
like a Laurentian
Sugar Shack
my religious house
I worship
pray thee
survive.

Today’s prompt: Day Seven: today our prompt is another oldie-but-goodie: a poem based on a news article. Frankly, I understand why you might be avoiding the news lately, but this is a good opportunity to find some “weird” and poetical news stories for inspiration.
