A jigsaw puzzle of bedrock – shielding – protecting
Locking into pools hardened – holding – waters
Wrapped in winter white – dark – green
Boreal needles sharp – communities – pinned
Porcelain concessions – endless – tiles
A cartographer’s paper – lined – divided
Cut by fissures – tooth-marked – gnawed
Granite torsos entwined – amorous – landscapes
Portraits picturesque – sublime – solitary
Virgin snows on untouched – timbered – rocks
Glacially flattened mountains – roadkill – pelts
Stretched weathered wide – taught – draped
Against winter’s skin wrapping – Prairie’s – alabaster
Birth-marked back – moles – craters
Rise and fall imperfectly – interrupting – perfection
Gaia’s scrawling scripts – tattooed – signatures
Flow permanently through – top – to bottom
Dark veins of life – frozen – for a season
A moment, a journey – high – above time.

You have a real love of language. It comes out in your rich choice of images. I like this very much.
Dale says
Thank you for the incredibly kind words. I do absolutely adore language and it’s power to convey “something” across worlds and time, even across cultures. I never really know what impression comes with the words, but that they make an impression at all, evoke images, and stir feelings, well, it’s what makes this all so worthwhile. I know I’m not unique in this — and I’m sure you get this from your own writing, which I find fascinating. Thank you not only taking a peek, but taking the time to also share your experience.
