Fantastic capture. Love this father and son image!
Thank you Kan — a very kind thing to say. I’m glad it touched you too.
Excellent photo, Dale. I need to wrap my head around silhouettes when I’m using my camera. I tend to forget how great they can look when I’m trying to “see” my subject!
Thank you Terri. Yes, you’re right, it is a different way of looking at subjects. When I think about your comment, I sort of liken silhouettes to pantomime … theatre without words. The silhouette takes away the textures — ironic given our conversations about textures last week — and the other details and leaves us with outlines that still tell a story wrought differently. It’s why the small details like the direction of the man’s head or grasp of the hands become so much larger suddenly. It’s cool stuff.
A beautiful moment captured.
Thank you. So many kind comments. 🙂
That is quite a precious silhouette! I hope you know the pair and were able to share the image with them!
Thank you Connie. A very kind comment. Yes, it was a stolen moment … taken after a wedding reception in New Brunswick on the St John River. The father and son in question got a copy. 🙂
That’s lovely to hear! So many times images are captured of passers by, images they would love, but have no idea they exist! Glad they got a copy 🙂 Really tender moment you captured!
You’re very right. We with cameras and the zoom lens often are voyeurs and don’t get to share. Thank you again. It remains one of my favourite pictures because, like you say, it captures and says so much.
Your yellow makes this special 🙂
Thank you John. I was just lucky enough to have a sunset cooperate and have my camera out at the same time.
Great interpretation of the theme …
Thank you Dorothy — I’m glad you think so too. I think I was lucky.
Gorgeous!
Thank you Dale. 🙂
Thank you for sharing the link. A gorgeous series you have there. Wow.
Thank you for the link as well. There is something about a sunset that seems to turn any silhouette into something remarkable. Nicely shot.
