They make me think of an almost bygone era… when kids were allowed to go out and explore… nowadays parents keep their kids on such short leashes they don’t get the chance!

You’re very much right. Perhaps photographic proof that the era hasn’t been lost entirely, but perhaps only lost from our cities. Perhaps one of those children with a stick, curious at what’s on the other end, will be the one that finds a cure for cancer because he saw the world as a mystery to explore.
