Standing Upon a Beaver Dam

April 5, 2016 by Dale 6 Comments

Gatineau Landscape4

I stand upon a beaver dam
A mountain top upon the sky
Overlooking a landscape of paint.

I balance myself on a sturdy log
An ark upon a diluvian lake
Drinking heaven from a chalice.

I crouch within a grasp of green
Genomes held within a treasury
Living emeralds feeding life.

I walk upon a sphagnum watershed
An archipelago stretching into gold
Entering a world built upon a home.”

Postscript: Yes, that is a turtle upon a stump in the background.

Great capture of the reflection in the pond. Have to love calm days. Great work.

Thank you Mark — it was indeed a picturesque, almost Walden-esque, day … perfect for contemplation in all its stillness and beauty. But thanks to beaver really for giving me the opportunity to capture it all.
