Home — so glad to be in you — in
every little corner you hide — me
myself — lost in you — you
a feather comforter — covering
my fears — bruises — in new
sight — wings test the air — alight
back to you — your twine — binds
fixes — faked news — away turned
back into china shelves — dusted
floating on — yellow pollen — into
an open bud — to burst — with heat
a kiss — melts coldness — behind
forgives the day — casts away — memory
carved on a corner — of a hope chest
beating — unlocked — with waiting
flutters — back to dream — resting
a pillow beside — you — and home.

Today’s prompt: Day Sixteen: today we challenge you to write a poem of over-the-top compliments. Pick a person, place, or thing you love, and praise it in the most effusive way you can. Go for broke with metaphors, similes, and more. Need a little inspiration? Perhaps you’ll find it in the lyrics of Cole Porter’s “You’re The Top.”
