Standing on a Cliff
a boundary against oblivion
blue pulls me away
from the gold of your heart.
Standing on a Ledge
time opens like earthquake
a chasm to infinity
seconds away from your heart.
Standing on the Edge
the earth disintegrates beneath me
bedrock turns to sand
clinging, falling away from your heart.
In a moment I will leap
clear the cliff
and feel the air
know the distance
feel despair
fly through time
and dance with you
count the grains
and wish for the deep
to wash away the pain
of missing your heart.
