Sun sets upon the
Shipyard cracks
The horizon
Painted on in layers
Weathered
By storms and brine
Peeling the crust
From atop the snow
Life is an iron
Skeleton beneath
Penetrating history
Rusted gold
Bleeds from background
I touch the bark
Of a dry-docked hull
And the earth
Falls in flakes to the ground
And I smile upon the decay
As the sun rises again
Tomorrow.”

I really love this – both because that photo brings back wonderful memories, and because this poem is really wonderful – it flows like the water that hull once rode and evokes images and thoughts about life – the deep meaning that is held in simple things for the seeker who wants to see it, the bright side in every situation, the hope eternal…and your words make me smile. 🙂 <3

A teary big smile back at you — thank you for “getting me” so intrinsically. You know my core. ❤
